Bx-Errors When Uploading New Templates? The Duduk Perkara And The Fix

For around a week now, many Blogger users have experienced Bx-error codes when attempting to upload a new template to their blogs when previously these templates had worked just fine. I discovered the reason for this on the Blogger Help Group after reading this post from Gatsby, a Blogger Employee: Recently we changed the way our template editor accepts certain third party code, so that it is now less tolerant of certain templates. We did this because we had seen a lot of data corruption due to 'bad templates,' and we are trying to stave off some of these issues pre-emptively. Now we realize that this has caused some inconvenience to folks, so we are re-thinking our decision and will post an update on that shortly.  At the time of writing this post, I have not found any notification that this issue has been fixed, and many of my own custom templates do not work in their initial state (I'll explain the fix later in this article). Since there are so many bloggers compl

How To Back-Up, Restore And Upload New Templates To Blogger

Although we can customize virtually any element of our Blogger templates using the new Template Designer, there may be occasions when we want to upload a premade template. Using Google Code To Host Scripts For Your Blogger Template

Many methods used to customize our Blogger templates require the use of JavaScript. At present, we can only upload images and video to Blogger. So if we need to use JavaScript we must find alternative hosting for these files. When using JavaScript in my own Blogger templates and customizations, I prefer to host the required scripts using Google Code's Project Hosting . In this post, I'll explain the methods and best practises for using Google Code to serve JavaScripts for your own Blogger tweaks. First things first! Project Hosting on Google Code is intended for collaborative development on open source projects. Rather than being used as a substitute for regular web hosting, it is best suited to hosting shared projects. All projects hosted on Google Code are Open Source , and are available for anyone to view or download. Various licenses are used for files served by Project Hosting including: GNU General Public License (GPL) MIT License Eclipse Public Lice

Since this archived post was written in 2007, web design and Blogger templates have changed immensely. The development of HTML5 and <audio> tags enable us to add music to our Blogspot websites and posts far more simply, and with improved control. In preparation for explaining how to podcast with Blogger, this tutorial explains how to easily add an HTML5 mp3/audio player to your blog posts or layout. How To Create A Sitemap With Google Feed Control

One question I am asked often is how to create a sitemap, where posts are organized by category (label) and link directly to blog posts. There are several ways this could be achieved, such as manually coding a sitemap, or using a service to generate the feeds for each individual label. In this article, I'll explain my favourite method for creating a sitemap/table of contents for Blogger blogs: using a modification of Google "Feed Control" to generate a sitemap automatically using the minimal amount of code. Overview Creating a sitemap using Google's Feed Control is a relatively simple task. You need not know anything about JavaScript or HTML code in order to use this tutorial: so long as you're able to copy and paste, this should be fairly easy to install! The sitemap we will create will list all post titles from your blog, organized by their category/label on a post page. We can then link to this post page from elsewhere in the Blogger template, such
